In todays lesson we watched the opening title sequence to the grudge from this there were various camera shots we learnt about. All of these shots showed the audience at was going on and what was surrounding her, these were:
- 360 degrees around the victim (Mid shot, Low angle) In todays lesson we made our distribution company and our production company by getting moving pictures and editing them on edit pro. We called these:
Distribution: Galaxy Pictures Production: Haunted house production Todays lesson we found out different ways to find out information about different horror films. What films had the highest rating, which were the most popular rented and bought. What the experts said about them and how much money these movies made.
These websites helped us with information we needed to know what our audience liked to watch and how companies were able to make money. In todays lesson we watched dexter and spotted different types of things that show death and killing. I came up with a couple ideas these were:
Then I learnt the different types of opening title sequences: 1. Symbolic - opening of Dexter 2. Saw style editing 3. Linear editing 4. Non-Linear editing - nightmare on elm street. In this lesson we learned how to make a storyboard and what was important to include in one this was:
We also leant the 8 different camera shots from the opening title sequence of the grudge. 1. Low angle, mid shot whilst the camera moves 360 degrees around the victim. 2. Closer mid shot, the camera moves to where the victim is looking. 3. mid shot, camera lower down - the camera moves below eye level. 4. High angle, closer mid shot as the victim is looking up - the camera is closer so you cannot see any of the surroundings, only the victim. 5. Close up, the victim has a lighter whilst she's looking - includes cobwebs in front of her (in the foreground) which creates discomfort. 6. Close up to extreme close up of the grudge jumping into the camera (JUMP!). 7. Tilt, mid shot the victims legs disappearing into the loft. 8. Long shot of the room she was in before she was taken, including the wardrobe she got taken up into. In our preliminary task we had to include a 180 rule, this is where you film from your line of vision without going past it. If you go over it becomes wrong, as it changes the position of the character meaning both characters will look like they are in the same position and both facing the same way.
Our preliminary task had to include one character walking through a door to sit down and exchange lines with another character and then walk back out through the door. Within this preliminary task we had to include camera shots, angles and movements also including the 180 degree role and an error. Lesson three we looked a variety of opening sequences, such as women in black and the ring to compare which is the most effective. Me and the group then made a list of the things we will include when we come to filming our opening sequence.
In the second lesson we had to film a mini video ' The Exchange'. We made mistakes which we learnt from and will improve when filming our next one.
From this Video we made a list of the do's and don'ts which my group then added to our website page. In my first lesson i learnt about the 7 key concepts, these were:
