Casting Decisions and why.
There are four people casting in our opening title sequence. We used certain people for allocated roles such as:
Holly. A young girl alone babysitting, we decided to use her to show how innocent and vulnerable she is alone and her outfit contributed to this. This is a typical victim in a horror film as its normally a girl who has no help and wears revealing clothing to fit with the stereotypical victim. Leanna. An older more mature woman playing the role of the mother to Jenson and Oscar the children. We used her to show how holly would become vulnerable and alone therefore it indicates to the audience she will be attacked at some stage. This indicates that when the adult leaves she is responsible to look after the children, so has to step us as an adult and take over that role. Britt. Also a young girl playing the spirit killer (child). Reasons for why we chose her was that she had long dark hair, she's small and child like . This gives the audience a clear understanding on who the enemy is during our opening title sequence. This links to our storyline because the child was left for dead so we needed the character to symbolise this. She is wearing a long, white night gown to represent that she used to be innocent and helpless until she was left for dead. Jenson. Playing a young boy. We used him as we needed someone to represent a child that needs to be looked after, this shows the audience that he's vulnerable and a young child thats small and fragile. This symbolises that he is helpless just like Britt was when she was alive. HF HS BC |
This is The Grudge who inspired us to make Britt look like a pale, dead girl with long black hair.
This is a young boy from the film Insidious who is in pyjamas, this inspired us to dress Jenson in this way.
